A Powerful Key to See the Unseen – Looking
We are in a special time! God is stirring up desire in His people, to walk in the reality of who they are in Christ. It is an incredible blessing to the entire body that people are coming into this greater awareness that they have a place and that their role is important. Along with this greater awareness, it’s no surprise to me that God’s people , more than ever, desire to see the unseen realm. We are instructed and encouraged in the scriptures to do so.
While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. (2 Corinthians 4:18 KJV)
Before the Lord gave me personal revelation about seeing the unseen, I had heard for years from prophets and seers alike that everyone can see into the spiritual realm. I’d heard for so long that this gift/ ability was for everyone that I began to wonder if there was something wrong with me. I had the desire but I certainly wasn’t seeing results no matter how many times I stretched out my hands toward the TV for impartation!
Look with Expectation!
I had the desire but what I didn’t have was a practical understanding of how to exercise my spiritual senses. The Bible tells us to exercise our spiritual senses, but how do we do that?
But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil. (Hebrews 5:14 NIV)
Part of the problem was that I had been expecting something huge and overwhelming to happen that would just open my eyes to see. I thought it would be like turning on a TV set. The Lord showed me that seeing in the spirit is not like turning on a TV, but like stepping through a doorway. If you step into a darkened room, or step inside a building out of bright sunlight, you look around with expectation to see, as your eyes adjust to a different level of light. It’s much the same as our spiritual eyes opening and adjusting to see the unseen. We have to actually look with expectation.
How Do We Look?
When we look with an expectation to see spiritual things, by faith, it causes our spiritual eyes to become engaged or to open. For instance, if you are worshipping or praying at home and feel a strong presence of God, so that you know Heaven at the very least is present, look around you! Do you see anything? No? Don't be anxious, but keep looking. When you are at church and worship goes to a level that is tangible, look around! What do you see that is not physical? Remember you are looking with an expectation to see the unseen. Make this a normal and natural part of your life. Always give God the opportunity to cause your eyes to see with greater clarity the things of the Spirit around you. Take this step of faith as often as you are able.
What Do We See?
First, I have to be very open and honest with you. You already see the unseen, much, much more than you realize. Every time you see a flash of light in the room that makes no natural sense, every time you think you see movement out of your peripheral vision, but turn and look and nothing is there, every time you see the things where you have convinced yourself your eyes are “playing tricks on you” you are seeing in the spiritual realm.
If you let this revelation sink in, and then really start to give credibility to these things you see, your spiritual vision will begin to increase and have much greater clarity.
Is That Really an Angel?
One night while I was laying in my bed praying, I happened to look around the room and noticed something odd. In front of me about six or seven feet away, it seemed like the air or the atmosphere was “buckling.” It was something I would have labeled as my eyes playing tricks on me in the past. I just continued to watch that area as I prayed and the vision became more intense little by little until after several minutes, I saw very clearly that an angel was standing by the entryway of our bedroom. If I had not initially looked, I would have missed this awesome sight!
The Lord desires to give us the Kingdom and the things of the Kingdom. He tells us to earnestly desire spiritual gifts! (1Corinthians 14:1) As you pursue Him, He will open your eyes to see the Glory of His Kingdom!
